Exciting plans for 2008-2009
Based on surveys of graduating students, alumni, and employers; feedback from full-time, part-time, and clinical faculty; and interviews with students currently in our MS SLP program, we are planning the following curricular improvements (approval pending):
Beginning in the Fall 2008, we added a second Hy Weinberg Center clinical practicum (internship). That will give our students more hours and more varied experiences prior to placements in their community settings. We will be adding an externship seminar to provide students with additional support in their practica. Lastly, we are planning to introduce a new 1-credit course in autism for SLPs. All of these changes will be made without increasing the number of credits required to graduate as we plan to combine Advanced Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation into a single course.
Anna and Leopold Reich Memorial Scholarship

The Robert F. and Augusta Finkelstein Memorial Lecture
October 20, 2009, 6:30 p.m.
Adelphi University Performing Arts Center Concert Hall
The Robert F. and Augusta Finkelstein Memorial Lecture was established by Adelphi University in 1981 in honor of the late Robert F Finkelstein, a noted industrialist and staunch believer in state and federal support of elementary and secondary education. This endowed lecture is provided through the generosity of Mrs. Augusta Finkelstein, a 1928 Adelphi graduate, in memory of her husband. Her goal was "to provide a series of lectures by well-known persons recognized for their commitment to the elementary and secondary public school system." After Mrs. Finkelstein passed away, the lecture was renamed to honor them both.
The Finkelstein Lecturer for Fall 2009 will be Alan R. Sadovnik.
