Curriculum and Instruction
The department offers a range of degree programs leading to initial and professional certification. The STEP program is a five-year combined bachelor's and master's program that integrates field work with a strong foundation in the liberal arts and sciences. It also offers an undergraduate Art Education program, as well as several graduate-level programs in specialized areas of teaching and leadership.

Communication Sciences and Disorders
The department offers graduate programs in assessing and developing intervention strategies for speech, language and hearing disorders. Its Doctor of Arts program is one of the few in the country. Students participate in a wide range of supervised clinical activities at the Hy Weinberg Center for Communications Disorders.

Health Studies, Physical Education and Human Performance Science
The department's multidisciplinary programs reflect its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for children through seniors. Nutrition, stress reduction, and physical activity courses train professionals to meet the needs of a diverse population in areas outside the traditional school setting, including the community and workplace.
