Adelphi is expanding access to higher education in innovative ways that often gain national attention. This month, I share how our growing suite of graduate programs offers on-campus and online higher education options to students of all ages—with four programs making the Best Graduate School list in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.

I am also proud to feature a nationally awarded initiative in equity and access. Ten years ago, the Bridges to Adelphi program began opening the doors to a college education for neurodivergent students. And to celebrate Mother’s Day, I am honored to share an inspiring story about one of our many mother-scholars.

Adelphi’s first Writers & Readers Festival, hosted by bestselling author Alice Hoffman ’73, ’02 (Hon.), gave our community insights into strategies for writing and publishing. And you may have seen the six Lawrence sisters on the news lately; these dedicated sisters have persevered through challenging times to become nursing students at our College of Nursing and Public Health.

My deepest thanks to all in our community for a record-breaking Giving Day last month. And this month, on Tuesday, May 21, we celebrate the many ways we are raising access to higher education by watching our students walk across the stage and become Adelphi graduates. On that day, we proudly welcome them as Adelphi alumni—a community now 122,000 strong.

All the best,
Chris

Adelphi’s answer is the innovative Bridges to Adelphi program, offering academic coaching, career training and a first-in-the-nation sensory room to boost student success. This award-winning program is a national model for providing equity and access to higher education.

Looking Back on Adelphi's Writers & Readers Festival

Adelphi alumna and novelist Alice Hoffman ’73, ’02 (Hon.), author of Practical Magic and more than 40 other works of fiction, hosted this new festival to, in her words, “celebrate our collective love for storytelling in all its forms.” In these photos, best-selling authors share guidance with emerging writers through workshops, panel discussions and keynotes.
