America holds early childhood education to be a valuable program in stimulating a progressive society; yet, public funding of early childhood education continues to be the subject of national debate.  Exploring Critical Issues, the broadcast series conceived and hosted by Adelphi University President Robert A. Scott, examines views on early childhood education in a segment airing regularly over a two-week period in early 2013.  The hour show will have its first airdate on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 10:30 p.m.

“I am fortunate to again attract leading experts for our program,” said Dr. Scott.  “Our discussion on early childhood education questions why our nation’s enrollment in preschool programs is among the lowest among advanced nations.  Why our 15-year-olds place 26th out of 38 countries on international tests of mathematical literacy.  And how it is that although the first nation to understand the value of college education, we are now in the middle of the pack in college graduation rates.”

Joining Dr. Scott for this look at endangered early education initiatives affecting our citizenry and world standing are:  Dana Friedman, Ed. D., President, The Early Years Institute; Laura Ludlam, Director, Alice Brown Early Learning Center, Adelphi University; Alice Brown, Former Director, Early Learning Center, Adelphi University; and Linda Landsman, Vice President, The Rauch Foundation.

“Early Childhood Education” airs in New York and Connecticut on Cablevision 29 (Long Island) and 137 (CT and NY area outside of Long Island), FiOS 296 (NY and Fairfield, CT), and streaming simultaneously at telecaretv.org on airdates and times as follows:

  • Sundays, January 27 and February 3 at 10:00 p.m.
