American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and DanceRuth S. Ammon School of Education senior Kristina Cavallo has been selected as the recipient of the Eastern District–AAHPERD (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance), EDA Robert Pate Award. This honor is awarded to the top female physical education major in the East.

Adelphi’s roots connect to AAHPERD, which was founded on November 27, 1885, when William Gilbert Anderson, a physical training instructor in at Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn, New York, invited a group of people who were working in the gymnastic field to come together to discuss their profession.

Today, Adelphi’s programs in health and physical education continue to educate national leaders. Over the past 20 years, Adelphi has had the most outstanding major winners in New York State, the most from the eastern district, and the most at the national level.
