Call for Proposals

Share your experiences in health education and related disciplines.

We invite you to apply to present at Adelphi University’s 13th Annual Partnerships in Health Conference on November 4, 2014. Approximately 150-200 professionals in health education and related disciplines from Long Island and surrounding areas are expected to attend the conference.

We encourage you to submit presentations that address the following topics:

  • Addressing special needs in the classroom
  • Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs
  • Assessment Tools and Strategies
  • Bias Education
  • Classroom Management
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Consumer Health Education
  • Diversity Education
  • Grief/Loss/Post Traumatic Stress
  • HIV/AIDS/Sexually Transmitted Infections
  • Innovative Teaching Strategies
  • Nutrition
  • Peer Mediation
  • Service Learning Strategies
  • Sexuality Education
  • Skill-based health education
  • Social/Emotional Learning
  • Stress Management
  • Teaching to the common core
  • Violence Prevention

Suggestions
This meeting is about demanding excellence and we encourage proposals that address current health issues, raise provocative questions, engage participants in discussion, and foster dialogue before, during, and after the conference itself. Your proposals will be evaluated on these criteria.

We suggest that you: 

  • make your presentation interactive 
  • provide resources: handouts, teaching aids, pamphlets, etc.
  • address a diversity of learning styles.

Selection Process
The content selection process is overseen by the Conference Steering Committee and guided by feedback from participants at previous conferences. Selection is made based on the relevance of the proposal in relation to conference themes, the person’s experience and knowledge, and whether the proposal has been included in previous conferences. Presenters receive complimentary registration for this year’s conference.

The deadline for proposals is October 15, 2014.

  • (please limit to 50 words; for use in the session introduction and the program)
