Element 6D: Unit Facilities
Faculty members are housed in several buildings—Harvey Hall, Woodruff Hall, Hy Weinberg Center, and Social Work—and classes are held throughout the University's campus.   Additionally, the Reading Center is located in Chapman Hall and the School Psychology program in Blodgett Hall.  Plans for the development of the Garden City campus and the Manhattan location are addressed in Table 6-13.

SOE – new building

2009-11

The SOE is next in line for a new building.  This has become a more promising reality with a recent large donation by a trustee. The SOE was renamed the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education in April 2006.

The reconstruction of Woodruff Hall will allow for a teaching center, new offices and appropriate facilities for the Department of Health Studies, Physical Education and Human Performance Science. The new building will be a great enhancement not only for the program, but also the university and student body as a whole.  The Alice Brown Early Learning Center's new facility will increase the current space fourfold and will be more suitable for candidate internships, pedagogical modeling and research.  The Hy Weinberg Building is relatively new in the history of the University and will receive modernization of offices and reception areas.  The Manhattan Center has recently undergone a number of improvements, including an additional office suite for Education administration, a computer lab, and a re-vitalized library.  Other improvements anticipated include more classrooms and a science lab. Harvey Hall houses the unit's administrative offices and is scheduled next for rebuilding (estimated to be in three to four years).  In the meantime, some of the unit's faculty members have offices in Social Work, adjacent to Harvey.
