- The department offers a wide range of specialized graduate degree programs leading to initial and professional teacher certification in areas including Art Education, Bilingual/TESOL Education, Childhood and Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership and Technology, English Education, Literacy, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Special Education and Social Studies Education.
- Communication Sciences and Disorders
- The department offers graduate programs in assessing and developing intervention strategies for speech, language and hearing disorders. Its Doctor of Arts program is one of the few in the country. Students participate in a wide range of supervised clinical activities at the Hy Weinberg Center for Communications Disorders.
- Health Studies, Physical Education and Human Performance Science
- The department's multidisciplinary programs reflect its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for children through seniors. Nutrition, stress reduction, and physical activity courses train professionals to meet the needs of a diverse population in areas outside the traditional school setting, including the community and workplace.

For over five decades, the renowned Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies has trained clinical psychologists to be both scholars and professionals.
