Welcome by the Dean

The Adelphi University Ruth S. Ammon School of Education is a school on the move. Throughout its programs for the preparation of teachers and other school professionals, we are committed to putting our words into action. To this end, we've put a renewed emphasis on such critical stances as: valuing teacher research; building meaningful school and community partnerships; infusing diversity and social justice issues throughout the curriculum; translating theory into practice for teachers and learners; embracing the whole learner in everything we do; and recognizing the creative elements inherent to the art of teaching and learning.

As we prepare for our very first NCATE accreditation, it is with the knowledge that preparing educators and school professionals for excellence in their respective fields is an enormous responsibility that requires that we hold ourselves to a higher standard. We share the commitment to excellence in education for which NCATE is known and look forward to joining the nearly 600 schools and colleges of education it has already accredited.

This Web site is a small window that provides information related to NCATE accreditation; who we are and what we value; and an assessment system that captures the uniqueness of individual programs. Once again, I think you will see through these links a school in motion, always renewing, always reflecting and always getting better.

Feel free to contact Associate Dean Perry Greene if you have any questions.
