Faculty Master of Arts in Physical Education for students with prior New York State teacher certification
Plan of Study
(33-36 credits)

(Intended for students who already have initial New York State teacher certification in physical education.)

The Department offers a Master of Arts in Physical Education for students who already have New York State initial certification. The plan of study includes required and elective courses, and one 3-credit internship.

Depending on the student's relevant studies, the program ranges from 33 to 36 credits of which 21 credits must be in physical education.

Although the baccalaureate in physical education is recommended for admission, it is not required. Candidates will be reviewed on an individual basis and may be required to complete additional courses in order to earn the degree.

Each student will be reviewed as to his or her experience and course work. Where they have a comparable course at the undergraduate level, they will be waived from that requirement and allowed to take additional electives at the advanced level in physical education or in related fields, such as exercise science, sports management, adapted physical education, or health education.
