M.A. in School Health Education| Career Opportunities

The health education specialist plays a vital role in building the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. Their role has expanded to include teaching about areas related to wellness, physical activity, nutrition, personal living skills, and multicultural awareness as well as planning, implementing, and evaluating health education programs.

Opportunities for graduates with a Master of Arts in School Health Education include:

  • promoting coordinated school health programming
  • facilitating school-community partnerships
  • train peer educators, counselors, and/or advocates.

Graduates have attained positions at academic institutions including:

  • Nassau County, Suffolk County, Westchester County and/or New York City school systems
  • Western Suffolk Boces Comprehensive School Health and Wellness Center
  • New York University, Barnard College, Columbia University, and Nassau Community College.
