About the Department

Our Mission

Students can pursue degrees in education and a New York State Teacher Certification, or train for non-teaching careers in fields related to health promotion, sport management, fitness, or exercise.

What we believe

  • We believe that students should be health advocates in the classroom, on the field, and in the world.
  • We believe that focusing on health and the whole person enhances the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
  • We believe that physical activity benefits, and therefore should be available to, everyone, regardless of background, appearance, belief system, or socioeconomic status.
