Middle School Education

Gain deeper insight to meet the needs of middle school students.

The Middle School Education Advanced Certificate Program results in extended certification for childhood or adolescence educators.

This program examines the many dimensions of the young adolescent experience, including gender, sexuality, intellectual, emotional, ethical growth, and political and social development while providing a deeper understanding of the instructional needs of the students within the middle school environment.

  • Adolescent Educators (grades 7-12) earn an extension to grades 5-6
  • Childhood Educators (grades 1-6) earn an extension to grades 7-9

Students will complete two courses for a total of 6 creditsoffered in a hybrid format (approximately two thirds online instruction and one third on-campus sessions).

Students can choose to study at the main Garden City campus beginning in Fall 2013, and will complete the course work in two semesters (fall and spring).
