Alice Brown Early Learning Center

The Early Learning Center, located at Adelphi’s Garden City campus, offers full and part-time childcare and education for children between the ages of 18 months and five years. The program operates operates with support from the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education and provides a develop mentally appropriate curriculum through kindergarten.

The Institute for Parenting

The Institute for Parenting was established to help ensure the health and well-being of young children and developing families by supporting and enhancing parental capacity to provide nurturing, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environments. The Institute provides parents, educators, service providers, and students with training, education, service, and
research within a culturally sensitive framework.

The Manhattan Center for Education

The Manhattan Center for Education offers graduate level-programs for students to earn professional credentials or pursue advanced studies in teaching and leadership. We serve a diverse community, with weekend classes tailored to meet the needs of the working adult
student.

The Literacy Center
Mary Ellen Rafferty, Director

Adelphi’s Literacy Center provides candidates in the Master’s in Literacy and the Post-Master’s Certificate in Literacy programs with the opportunity to work with students on campus and in neighboring public schools. Under faculty supervision, candidates will access and instruct students from the community who are experiencing literacy difficulties. One or two semesters of practicum are required for New York State certification as a Literacy Specialist depending on the area of certification sought.

Alice Hoffman Young Writers Retreat

The Adelphi University Alice Hoffman Young Writers Retreat is an annual intensive writing workshop where high school students and their teachers experience the power of arts-based learning.
