Bilingual Extension for Certified
Teachers Advanced Certificate (24 credits) |
This program is for candidates who already hold professional (permanent) certification in special education, adolescent, childhood, early childhood, early childhood special education, or literacy education. Candidates in this program will be required to pass the NYSTCE Bilingual Education Assessment (BEA).

Important Notes and Deadlines
- Applications for student teaching are due as follows:
Fall student teaching, applications are due March 1.
Spring student teaching, applications are due December 1.
- Reflective practice is required of all students and will not be waived.
- All students must apply for NYS certification in their last semester. Applications are in the Office of the Registrar or the Education Office. See test booklet for up-to-date information and registration for the Bilingual Education Assessment (BEA) examination.
- All off-campus students are required to take one course at the Garden City campus.
