Institutes & Centers | Center for Literacy Studies

The Center for Literacy and Learning provides affordable diagnostic evaluations plus individual and group instruction for students in grades one through 12 who require assistance with:
  • decoding
  • fluency
  • vocabulary
  • comprehension
  • study skills
  • writing
The Center is staffed by New York State-certified teachers enrolled in the M.S. Program in Literacy, who work under the supervision of Adelphi faculty. Each child is individually evaluated, using a combination of formal and informal assessments, personal interviews, and writing samples. The programs are tailored to the child's specific needs.

Children may be placed in small groups of no more than four students or receive individual instruction. Teachers work closely with the parents to supplement the lessons. Sessions are offered in the fall, spring, and summer.
