CARE Mentor Program

Ongoing Event

CARE is a program run by the Hispanic Cultural Center of Oyster Bay, East Norwich. The program provides children from James H. Vernon Middle School and Roosevelt Elementary School with supervised activities including homework help, noncompetitive games, cultural and civic enrichment activities, health, and character and life skills education.

The overall goal of the program is to ensure that children from low-income families where English is not the first language do not fall behind in academics and to provide a rich and rewarding experience to the children and their families.

The Adelphi University CARE mentor program is a collaborative program that Adelphi students work with children, K-6, every Monday throughout the academic year. Students who are chosen to participate in this program will work one-on-one with children, as well as participate in University-led training and discussions on their experience.

The application is due on Friday, September 22, 2017.
