In the fall 2003 semester, The Ruth S. Ammon School of Education implemented an exciting web based tool called LiveText. LiveText is a suite of web-based tools that allows the university to monitor the growth and progress of its students as well as measure the learning outcomes of its programs.

Faculty and students use this web based eportfolio tool to assess progress and to ensure that expected learning outcomes have been met, particularly those related to the school's core values and state standards. The use of this web-based information management system goes far beyond its assessment features. As a reflective and everchangiing narrative, one that changes as students expand thieir experiences and knowledge base, the eportfolio allows students to join the larger discourse and community of students, thinkers and professionals in their respective fields.
