(Graduate) |
Overview - Pre-Certification Program
I. The Exploration Phase
The Exploration Phase constitutes the Assessment Point No. 2 and will occur after you have completed the Exploration Block (14 credits).
Benchmark requirements
Child Observation Project (from ECH 0807-600. Childhood Development)
Assessment Case Study (from EYC 814-660. Assessment, Observation and Documentation in EC Settings)

II. The Synthesis Phase
The Synthesis Phase constitutes the Assessment Point No. 3 and will occur after you have completed the Synthesis Block (21 credits).
Benchmark requirements
Two thematic Units of Study with a minimum of 5 lesson plans each from the
following courses:
ELY 0802-625; EYC 0814-710; and EYC 0814-720
Classroom Management Project (from EYC 0814-800 Field Experience and Classroom Management in EC settings)
Dispositions Rubric (completed by the Field Experience Supervisor)
- Student need to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Passing scores on NYSTCE Tests: LAST, ATS-W, and CST
Portfolio Assessment for Point No. 3 will take place as part of the Field Experiences and Classroom Management in EC Settings course (EYC 0814-800).

III. The Reflective Practice Phase
This is the final portfolio checkpoint and it occurs during student teaching. Adelphi University field supervisors and cooperating teachers use an assessment system (Pathwise Performance Criteria) to evaluate you on essential teaching skills. These evaluations, your Reflective Narrative, and a Dispositions Rubric will be included in the portfolio.
Benchmark requirements
The following benchmarks should be included in the portfolio at this point:
- Pathwise Performance Criteria
- Reflective Narrative
- Dispositions Rubric (completed by the Field Experience Supervisor)
- Student need to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Passing scores on NYSTCE Tests: LAST, ATS-W, and CST

Overview - In-Service Program
I. The Exploration Phase
This phase constitutes the Assessment Point No. 2 and will occur after you have completed the Exploration Block (14 credits).

II. The Synthesis Phase
The Synthesis Phase constitutes the Assessment Point No. 3 and will occur after you have completed the Synthesis Block (20 credits).
Benchmark requirements
The following benchmarks should be included in the portfolio at this point:
- Two Thematic Units of Study with a minimum of 5 lesson plans each from the following courses: ELY 0802-625; EYC 0814-710; and EYC 0814-720. Please note that if these courses are waived, students will submit two units of study that are currently using in their own classroom.
- Classroom Management Project (from EYC 0814-801 Field Experience and Classroom Management for Uncertified EC teachers)
- Dispositions Rubric (completed by the Field Experience Supervisor)
- Student need to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Passing scores on NYSTCE Tests: LAST, ATS-W, and CST
Portfolio Assessment for Point No. 3 will take place as part of the Field Experiences and Classroom Management for Uncertified EC teachers course (EYC 0814-801).

I. The Exploration Phase and Synthesis Phase?
The Exploration and Synthesis Phase constitutes the Assessment Point No. 2 and will occur after you have completed the Exploration and Synthesis Block (17 credits).
Benchmark requirements
Assessment Case Study (from EYC 814-660. Assessment, Observation and Documentation in EC Settings)
Classroom Management Project (from EYC 0814-801 Field Experience and Classroom Management for Uncertified EC teachers)
Childhood Development course (Passing grade on a childhood development graduate course)
- Two thematic units of study (from own current classroom)
- Dispositions Rubric (to be completed by Field Supervisor)
- Student need to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Passing scores on NYSTCE Tests: LAST, ATS-W, and CST

III. The Reflective Practice Phase
